A Melody of Malady

They had never the heart, To bear the ending of a dance for two, A pain from which they could never part, Hesitation in each step they carry through. A tragedy, from the start.
The Ballroom, lost of all its light, Last of all remained a melody, A candle who dared to shine in silent bright, To see to its end, their shared elegy, Forevermore, their eternal night.
How sadly to share in a shadowed dance, The flame and its accursed song, together alone, To be free from one another, a false esperance, It was all they had ever known, Still, they chose to stay, in harmony of their own romance.
Yet remained what could not be called to mind, Traces of a time before the symphonious instance, This cursed melody of ceaseless refrain was forever entwined, How long had the melody orchestrated this existence? Was their mind ever for them to find?
No box could hold a ballad so twisted and full of woe, To the candle's every thought and dream, it remained an affliction, Never did they imagine they'd lose more of themselves to show, As they learned to move in time with their infliction.
Their recitals brought feelings of forlorn embrace, Of one at their side to share in their dance, Who wouldn't mind the torment worn on their face, To share in a reverie, a harmony, if given the chance. One who wouldn't leave without a trace.

For the Melody of Malady never needed end.

Madwaltz's Relations

Matchstick

"Won't you indulge in another dance more? Just imagine what your matches could bring to the performance!!"

Like most who've shared in a past waltz with Madwaltz, Matchstick has become a topic of thought for them.

They're always thinking of ways to involve Matchstick's affinity for matches in their hypothetical next dance.

Dustcatcher

"Oh, to be lifted to your heights in a grand finale!"

Madwaltz has developed a routine habit of "trust falls" with Dustcatcher from varying heights, landing in her arms.

A trait that was likely inspired from Madwaltz' first encounter with Matchstick and Dustcatcher...

They're on friendly enough terms!

Chimney Urchin

"Admit it, a cloud of soot would make for the perfect dramatic entrance of an unlikely up and coming!"

Madwaltz often has to spare some effort to find Chimney Urchin, as he usually hides from them.

Whenever Chimney's attempts to weasel away fail him, he and Madwaltz can be found chatting over tea. They seem to enjoy talking about hats of all things.

Thief

"You'd steal more than the hearts of the audience, i'm sure!"

Madwaltz sees great potential in Thief, believing he could make a graceful waltzing partner.

They can't seem to get him to agree.

Sawbone

"Why, whenever I see you, you always appear stressed! Are you sure I can't offer you a dance to clear the mind?"

Madwaltz isn't allowed near Sawbone when she's studying due to their repeated attempts to pull them away for a recital.

Sawbone has offered to share in a dance as an experiment, to which Madwaltz responded by telling her that she would learn nothing if she isn't genuine in her steps.

Grand Librarian

"Surely a candle of history such as yourself knows a thing or two of a dancing flame, hmm?"

Madwaltz is very keen on learning more of the music that echoes the halls...

Eerieshard

"Eerieshard, that first dance we shared... all my revelries leave an impression on me, and maybe... none more than you. I only wish it could have lasted. "

Madwaltz can't help but feel compelled to approach Eerieshard. Something about her makes them feel closer to themself, somehow...

While Eerieshard is quite adamant in declining their dance proposals, the two can often be seen enjoying a tea together.
